Memoirs of an Assassin
An unnamed contract assassin breaks his silence to reveal the methodical world of sanctioned murder — the surveillance, the tradecraft, the psychological compartmentalization, and the slow accumulation of cost. What began as a single fictional memoir has become a series.
The Novels
What readers are saying
"Memoirs of an Assassin unfolds as an intimate conversation with its main character, immediately drawing you in, and once you’re there, it doesn’t let you go. The writing is simple and authentic, walking that fine line between dark and humorous in a way those “in the know” will especially appreciate. I couldn’t put it down."
"As a matter of practice, I steer clear of assassin stories, but this one surprised me. Instead of leaning on nonstop violence or over-the-top suspense, it spends its time on the thinking behind the work — the psychology, the planning, the trade-offs, and the quiet risks that sit beneath each action. The writing is clean and matter-of-fact throughout. By the final chapter, the pace picks up noticeably in a way that feels like a clear setup for an interesting series. It left me curious about where the story goes next. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the author’s next book."
"Memoirs of an Assassin is an authentic thriller that stands out for its location set pieces and masterful tension. Grant Rayner’s background in the military and the security industry lends the tradecraft a sense of realism, making this a must-read! Whilst I'm fairly sure Grant is not an international assassin he certainly could be!"
